summer / Spring Break CAmps / School Holidays

SUMMER CAMP: Summer is our most popular time and we spend most of our time on the beach in Santa Monica. Our average ages are 3-7 years old although we welcome younger / older children at our camp. Many children with younger siblings often attend together. We also accept private groups. Contact info@coastalkidsla.com for all the details including our rates.

For those that are unfamiliar with our programs, we are a play based program and each day is a unique adventure. We have everything available that you can think of in a fun beach day: water play, shovels / buckets / sand toys, surfer dudes, digging for sand crabs, making sand castles, ropes for tug of war, dolphin watching and finding other sea life, treasure hunts, baseball games and other sports, parachute games, art projects, drawing, reading books, finding seashells, digging huge holes and much more. The flow of the day depends on children's interests as they are free to pick and choose what activities they would like to participate in. Ultimately the main attractions are the water and the sand.

SPRING BREAK: Spring Break is normally a mix of trail and beach time based on the weather.

We are open during most school holidays and breaks.  Any day that your child is off school we are normally open for fun outdoor adventures.  These days fill up fast so if you would like to reserve some dates or get additional information you can do so at info@coastalkidsla.com or on our contact form.

Outdoor Preschool

Our preschool program is currently on pause until further notice. Camps during school breaks and holidays remain open.

We are a year round outdoor adventure program (request calendar for locations) in the Santa Monica area and are open Monday – Friday.   For the upcoming school year our hours will be 9 - 1:30pm and we plan to offer afternoon programs most days. The best way to see if our program is the right fit for your child is to come out for a visit and experience a day with the Coastal Kids.

At Coastal Kids, our role as educators is to guide children as they explore all the wonders of nature.  We base our child-inspired emergent curriculum upon children’s interests and what the environment provides.  Our goal is to enhance the child’s learning experience. Sometimes this comes from materials we provide or questions we ask, but often can come from our silence and observation as each child experiences the learning process on their own or with one another.  Children’s interests lead the day and no two days are alike. Learning occurs organically and our sensory rich learning experience is hands-on. We are able to see, taste, feel, hear, and touch what the natural environment has to offer. Each day is a new adventure full of running, climbing, digging, exploring and getting dirty! We encourage and empower the children to take healthy risks while ensuring they are safe.  At Coastal Kids we believe that children learn the most through their interactions with each other and their environment. Children will develop a respect and appreciation for the natural environment that we hope will carry on for a lifetime.
